Labor Day Rest
Labor Day: A Day of Rest
…And on the 7th day, God rested from all His work that He had done, and He saw that it was good. (Genesis 2:2) And with that event, the first Labor Day was celebrated. A day set aside to honor work.
Now it’s easy to picture the role of the laborer. Hard hat on his/her head, blue collar on the neck, and a tool in the hand being used in a highly physical manner. The person who completes the job is much needed.
So, it is good, even patriotic, for one to celebrate this necessary person to our American way of life and grant them a day to rest and see all the good they do. But not all workers are as active as the American laborer…consider for example the work ethic of a kitty. So, they sleep 18 hours a day, but when they’re awake, they are productive…almost an essential worker.
So, what then are the jobs of a kitty? They are as abundant as the hairs on their fur coats. Since pictures tell the story in a 1000 words, let these images tell their tale.

Was that the phone I heard? This kitty gets your messages right.
What is that thing you do well? That deed that seems so small and yet so appreciated. Do it with the faith, grace, and a smile and in a way which in turn brings glory to God. For in heaven it is said of your work, “It is good.” So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God” resting and not worrying about what others say about you or try to please them. As a matter of fact, do everything that way, heartily and freely to God’s glory for it is good and the best act of labor of all. (1 Cor 10:31)
